While my boat has a 4" garmin
chart plotter mounted by the companionway
, it is hard to read details from a distance.
Some time ago I purchased software
for my iPad
as a back-up navigation
system (yes there are also charts
aboard). Before mounting my iPad
at the helm
, I was curious how long other people's iPads have lasted in an open cockpit
of a sailboat. Or if it hasn't died how long it has been on deck
. I keep mine in a Griffin Technologies case as at the time as it was the most durable one on the market. The Ram mount looks robust and will hold the Griffin case.
If you are using an iPad on deck
, any info on life expectancy and mount will be greatly appreciated.
