Horizon cp390i connecting to SiTex MDS-1

Has anyone tried to connect these 2 things together? I want to put the radar on the mast so would need a deck connection, Would also like to connect a Horizon GX 2150 for AIS and DSC. I'm hoping it's not to complicated but if anyone has any input, or foresees any pitfalls I'd appreciate the feedback.
Thanks in advance.

I have a CP300i that I'am connecting to a MDS 10-5 it requires a junction box & a cable that connects the display to the J-box & the data cable from the dome. You'll also run 12v power thru a switch to the J-box. The display also needs a software update if it hasn't already been done. The MDS-1 will require all the same stuff, contact SH & they will email you the directions & sell you the J-box. If when you hit menu & with the list of functions Radar comes up with all the others then the display has the software update, if not SH can help you with that also, they have great service. Good luck

Re: Horizon cp390i connecting to SiTex MDS-1

I put this setup on Boracay, but used a pole at the back of the boat.

I used a late model 390i and MDS-1 and all the necessary bits came with the plotter and dome. All went together fine, no need for software upgrade. Just needs careful attention to detail and lots of time.

I was disappointed with the result - would not regard it as reliable over more than a few miles. Mast mounted would be better.

Re: Horizon cp390i connecting to SiTex MDS-1

Thanks for the information. So it's doable and the parts are all included, I already have the cp390i on the boat, but haven't bought the radar dome. Any opinions on hooking up the SH 2150 VHF radio to the cp 390i? Instructions seem a bit technical so plain "cruiser language" is appreciated.
