Hooka Diving system

I have been looking for a Hooka diving system, but they are quite expensive. I found one that looks suitable for cleaning my hull.

But i cannot find any review of the product. Anyone has any experience with this product?

I looks like one of the crappy ones being sold on eBay.

We have a Hookamax system with a 100ft hose that we've been pleased with, it seems to be a small step above crap and the 100ft hose makes using it much easier. The 12v compressor also has a tank, and the complete system cost around $900 or so. Hose, regulator, compressor and filter.

Make sure you get a 12v system in order to be portable just using a 12v car battery, then you can go anywhere with it in your dinghy. And get scuba certified if you haven't already, so you don't kill yourself trying to save $50 on a hull cleaning. :-)

There are other good products out there with better compressors, but this unit seems to work well for hull cleaning and scuba exploration via the dinghy in small coves away from the boat. I strongly recommend getting a unit with the storage tank and longer hose. The storage tank allows a little extra time when the battery runs out... a few extra, labored breaths to get to the surface. It won't just quit on you. FWY: When doing work under the boat, you'll use more air than normally used while just cruising around and looking at sea life.

One time while working under the boat, my battery ran out; the tank compressor left me with the feeling that I couldn't take in a complete deep breath and allowed a minute or more to get to the surface... it didn't just stop working.

If you are interested in a 12v DYI solution, here is one. The compressor is a Puma PD1006 ($300), use a Dixon MF200 in line 5 micron filter($40), use any 1/4" food grade hose, and a hookah regulator (Google it, $60 and up). The system will cost a total of about $450, plus a 12v battery. Use at least a G27 size, with G31 offering more time. The system will easily do one diver, don't know about 2.

In my opinion, there is zero probability that these cheap systems work. The air flow required by a diver, even at 6 feet, working hard, is way beyond what these compressor can provide.
