Help with Bahamas Intenet Access

So it's been about 4 years now since I've been over to the Bahamas and I was trying to put together a list of places with Internet access (In all parts of the Bahamas). As much information about any particular site would be much appreciated (Information such as: wifi or ethernet cable, freee or per hour/week/month etc and their rates, hours of operation, etc., etc. would be much appreciated).

Thanks for the help, Bill A.

Access I had last month (All wireless):

Manjack/Crab Cay: Free thanks to a cruiser friendly couple that owns a home there.

Marsh Harbour: Free with drinks or food at Curly Tails at the Conch Inn Marina.

Hope Town: Free with Coffee, etc. at the Coffee shop.

WIFI available at most communities for a fee. I believe they had daily and monthly rates.

I could pick up a cell phone signal for an iphone/blackberry/internet card internet access most everywhere in the central and southern Abacos. I checked the weather on barometerbob.com while sitting on the beach on Powell.

On previous trips, I was able to use a public access computer at West End. I know Marsh Harbour also has fee per minute access options.

Good thread. I look forward to hearing of other access spots.

My boat is in Bimini Sands Marina at South Bimini has free access.

Also you may want to look into Truphone. it is a VoIP for the IPhone and other higher end phone that is pennies a minute compared to dollars with ATT internationally. Also if others have Truphone installed talking is totally free between phones internationally.

Thanks,

That's a start, do either of you know if Compass Cay Marina or the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, in the Exumas, still have wifi? How about Georgetown, is there any internet access in town other than the Batelco office?

Thanks again, Bill A.

Thanks for that tip. That will come in real handy on my next Bahamas trip.

GT has a pay service now, $15 a week. Nobody goes up the hill to Batelco anymore, also don't rely on Batelco cards as most of the call boxes are out of order. Also if you have a good antenna you can get a couple of the resorts free. Staniel Cay Y.C. still free. Lorraine on Black Point now has wifi. Nassau, Starbucks and Red Roof Inn (all by the Harbour Club). White Sound in Green Turtle but you have to mooch the key from someone. Skype is possible but many of the connections don't have a lot of bandwidth.
