Help! B&G Hydra 2000 out of action!!!

First noticed something was wrong when the autopilot was steering from port to starboard and starboard to port. The yacht was kind of over steering. We thought that something metallic was affecting the B&G compass. That was not the case. As the B&G pilot control was new due to fading display on the old one, swapped back to the old pilot but it was doing the same. As arrived to destination had an other look and wanted to engage the pilot when the yacht was in the berth but now there was no data. The pilot had 'no pilot' on the display and the three displays at mast had no data but they were live as they displayed 'true windspeed' 'app wind angle' 'speed' but no numbers what so ever. Also the nmea display at the helm was totally dead. Checked that the system was powered up including all instruments, processor and autopilot. Does anybody have any advice?

Unplug the compass and see if your other data comes back. If not, with power off, check resistance at computer across the white and green wires of the network cable connection. There should be a 100 ohm network terminator at each end of the network so you should read 50 ohms. Check all your network junction boxes for corrosion/loose connections/moisture intrusion. You can connect one of your displays directly to the computer to narrow problem to somewhere on the network or an internal computer problem.

Thanks Eric for your quick reply, really appreciate this! So what you say is that the resistor should be in between white and green wire at the end of the network? I am not at the marina now but have funny feeling that the resistor was in between black and white. I will go and check and follow your instructions. Thank you again.....

There should be a 100 ohm resistor at each end of the network. If the network cable branches off in two directions from the computer, the resistor should be in the junction box at the farthest end of each leg. If it only goes in one direction from the computer, there should be a resistor at the computer terminal strip and at the end of the network cable. The resistor should be across the white and green wires. Those are the data wires. Red and black are the power wires.

Thank you very much. Got it all going. The resistor was in wrong terminals. :-)
