Thought some of the HAMS out there who contest might find this article interesting...working on getting my license but won't have it in time for this opportunity...Sounds like a fun trip they are taking!
That looks like a lot of fun. Sail off to an island and operate radios. My two favorite hobbies.
Too bad my equipment is not operational right now.
I used to live in the Marshall Islands in high school, where I first got my radiolicense. That was fun operating as a DX. Always had pile ups.

They are active now with great signals in the eastern U.S. There are lots of similar stories and some famous ones from sailors activating Bouvet, S Sandwich and Marion Islands as well as numerous S Pacific islands.
