Grounding IC802 to Steel Hull

Hi All,
My question concerns grounding the AT140 tuner to the hull. I have an insulated backstay with the tuner mounted directly underneath in the lazzerette. I have 2" wide copper strip.Q: should i cut the strip in two, then connect it with 6 capacitors to prevent electrolisis, or can i cut out a square in the strip & solder said caps across the hole? Not sure if stray DC current will still go either side of the hole. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers Steve

The DC will go wherever there is a conductor to travel on (in). If you want to use the DC blocking capacitors, then cut the copper strip into two pieces and join them with the capacitors to provide the AC (RF) path.

IMO, these are not necessary for a steel hulled vessel but they can't hurt.

Use Gto 15 wire or equivalent to connect tuner to the backstay (not coax) and ground the tuner to the hull anywhere with the copper strip. As Wotname says, 'not necessary to use' capacitors.
