GPS Rollover - 6 Apr 19

So the GPS time clocks which count in weeks will roll over tomorrow. I suspect our friends in NZ and Aus will be the first to see if there is a problem with particular makes and models, or if it all works swimmingly

Link to explain the problem from Raymarine and a list of their products is attached.

2019 GPS Week Rollover

Be interested to hear of any problems.

Pete

Re: GPS Rollover - 6 Apr 19

I don't think Aus and NZ will roll over before anyone else. I think this is all based on UTC and not local time. If not all at one time, then some satellites will effect the roll-over sooner than others, which will follow on. Don't want to put all the GPS eggs in one basket. But then again, these are engineers who designed this. Hopefully not the ones who used imperial and not metric to land on Mars.

My SIMRAD NSS12 (pre-evo) came up with no time/posit data on 7 APR. Pi$$es me off because SIMRAD had just put out an update in NOV '18 for an earlier lack of time issue and they assured me that the fix also would support the GPS week rollover. Checked site and they acknowledge that the older NSS will be affected and they'll let us know when an update is ready.

A guy over on SBO had a similar issue with his NSS8 pre rollover. He downloaded and installed this update:

NSS-30-46.2.24-46.2.24-28289-r2-Sandard-2

He has indicated that his NNS is now working properly.

I know nothing about NSSx so that update might be only for the NSS8. Maybe there is a similar update for the NSS12.
