GPS losing signal

Using Furuno Navnet 3D, when radar is powered up, the GPS signal gets lost. It loses the satellites. Power down the radar and the signals return?

Is this following a change to the system or new installation of one of those devices? If so I would start by moving the GPS antenna around and seeing if it starts working. No personal experience but it seems to me that if the two antennas are too close the radar signal could be clobbering the GPS inputs.

If it's a new problem on a system that previously worked, I have no guesses.

Allow me to provide one

The filtering system in the radar transmitter circuit has degenerated thus allowing an harmonic (or sub harmonic) of the GPS carrier frequency though to the radar's antenna - thus now clobbering the GPS inputs whereas when it was working properly, the RFI of the radar was being filtered out.

And yes, first try moving the position of the GPS antenna away for the radar, especially vertically if possible i.e. above or below the radar antenna.

Are they same hight? You defiantly don't want your gps ant in the radar beam.

As these guys said, common interference.

Play with the mounting location of the GPS antenna.. above the radar is the safest bet but depending on distance and angle you could get away with under it as well.
