Global 4g systems

Hi guys and gals,

What is the go to system for global marine 4g systems?

An antennae on the top of the mast would presumably suffer signal loss.

A 4g system for the mast with a wifi repeater would make it annoying to swap SIM cards for different countries up the mast.

Is there a system that has a proper antennae on top of tr mast, but with the SIM card down below?

Wired or wireless doesn't concern me I can resolve the rest of the network easily.

Bonus points for a directional 4g antennae with auto rotation for optimum signal..

Wilson Weboost is the go to for cellular boosters. The antenna is up the mast, but the amplifier is located down in the hull. This just boost the signal, and you still need to add a sim card to something to actually use it. We have a GOLocalME hotspot with worldwide sim card. If we just arrive in a country, we can use the worldwide card, but if staying for more than a few days, it is worth while to get a local sim and plan.

Just to note cellphone boosters are highly illegal in Australia. It's a federal law with big fines.

Re: Global 4g systems

I have used the 4GX advanced III in a cradle with 12 VDC power for past few years connected to an 3dB gain 4G aerial via low loss coax cable (cable cost more than the antenna) at the top of a 23.5 meter mast for Data/internet with very good success. Up and down the East coast of Oz.
I use the computer on board the vessel in anchorages, when people are climbing hills and standing on one leg trying to get a signal. Skype calls from Percy Island. Download files while anchored 30 meters off the beach at Lizard Island. No experience with it OS.
