Garmin connected to standard horizon???

Hey guys I would like to replace my outdated VHF radio with a newer model, and at the same time equip my boat with an AIS transponder. I own a somewhat outdated Garmin GPS map 4208 with radar equipped. It does have ports that make it NMEA or whatever capable. I recently saw a Standard Horizon GX2150B VHF radio with AIS transponder, and did some research. I know its possible to wire it up to a standard horizon chart-plotter, but would it be possible to wire it to my Garmin, calibrate it and have it function and display other boat AIS signals properly on its display?

This guy is the best. His video is where I saw the standard horizon. He hooks it up and it works.
