Garmin 276c ==> Sea Clear II via USB

Hi All,

Is anyone using the Garmin 276c with the SeaClear II charting via the usb port?

Also has anyone updated these units firmware?

I'm interested in anything that might pertain to this subject.

Both the 276c manual and the Sea Clear II manual are very vague, with the SC-II only talking about the serial port connection, and not much else.

You actually will need to use the NMEA output of the GPS, not the USB connector. Now you can still use an RS232<->USB cable to get the NMEA stream into your computer (and thus into SeaClear), but not with the Garmin USB interface, as it is not the same protocol.

You might also try using the 276's USB driver instead of the default one.

I needed to do this with a notebook which had a very old non-Garmin USB driver and it worked.
