Question Furuno NavTex NX-300

Our boat came equipped with a Furuno NavTex model NX-300 made in 2001. Although it seems to work fine, we've never learned to use it because we got all the information we needed through our Garmin chartplotter and VHF radio. We're trying to decide whether to keep it on the boat or remove it.

Can anyone tell me: Is the NavTex system still operational, or has it gone the way of Loran: replaced by higher tech systems? No point in messing with the unit if there's no longer a data stream for it to pick up.

Thanks!
