Furuno DGPS-36 and Antennae

I have acquired one of these GPS units that works perfectly. I was intrigued by the "DGPS" rather than "GPS" moniker and after doing some research found out that the DGPS system is something that came about as a result of selective availability years ago. My question is: if I use a regular GPS antennae with this unit, what kind of resolution should I expect now that selective availability has gone away?
I do not have the original DGPS antennae that the unit was shipped with years ago.
The antennae that I do have is a Furuno GPA017
