Keith,
Sounds like a good plan. Just do it with the transmitter off so you don't get exposed to RF radiation.

You still might try resetting the unit to factory defaults in case it's a software issue after all.

This is the first thing I do if I cant find anything loose. Seems to work 90% the time with electronics.

Display is fine but jumps around and the coast rotates 90 degrees!

So thats the symtom! Hard to get the gist remotely.
Thanks Keith, always good to know stuff like this.
Lots to go wrong in these units.
If ever you cannot procure anything I am a contact in NZ.
Good wave hunting! (And partying!)

Re: Furuno 1623 Radar Says no Heading Pulse

Well, made it to Roc Noc last night and blew out my headsail in a squall, one of about 12!!! Then had a great reach up Phi Phi Don, used a smaller furling jib and 1 reef in the main, doing 5 to 7 knots all day and copped a complete white out squall when entering phi phi harbour, all on a mooring ok. Place is going off, Phuket tomorrow and radar fix on monday??

Thanks for your help Lateral!!

Fair winds from Keith.

Furuno 1623 Radar Says no Heading Pulse

Thanks for your help with my radar.
I am now in phuket, thailand and pulled the reed switch out and checked if it was switching, which it is, so the pcb is being tested today in phuket.

They have also fitted an external alrm and a gps cable connection and they have the display and radome for testing, so it should all be fixed soon and I will let you know the outcome.
Cheers from Keith.
