Some radars & sounders-not sure what else they used them on.
A friend was looking at a LCD Furuno sounder & it needed a $60 adapter cable to go from 10pin socket on sounder to his std 8pin dual freq t-ducer cable.

Ridiculous$$$,especially in Canada where $60US is currently $86 CDN plus Frt.
Costs $1.43 to buy a $US. We are tied to price of oil,so they say....

Google Furuno AIR-033-073 for adapter cable that I am talking about.

Reason I asked is two of my boats had Furuno Radar (CRT type though) They said not to cut the cable but both were installed with a connector strip in the bilge near the mast base. Both worked just fine.

I believe the reason that "cutting" the display to dome cable was discouraged was :
(1) It's a bugger(not impossible) re-splicing it & making splice watertight,if outside.

(2) If the length of cable is changed,you should adjust the "center spot" to correct the distortion of picture inside 1/8 mile. ie: close targets can be "sucked in" or "pushed away" from center spot(your boat) if this is not done per instructions in owner manual. Not difficult to do,but I ran across many that were not adjusted,& it could cause an accident.
