Re: Firmware Update for Raymarine C-Series

I load the firmware for my 2003 C120 with a 64MB SanDisk CF card. If I use a larger capacity CF card of any manufacture it is not recognized by the C120.
I'm currently running v 4.30. I tried 5.04, but it re-introduced the bogus "AIS Connection Lost" alarm that was fixed in a previous release. I have no problems with v4.30.

What capacity CF card are you using to load your MFD?

256MB Scan Disk, which RM says is supported. I even did the compatibility check.

Re: Firmware Update for Raymarine C-Series

hpeer,
I just ran a test load of my C120 using a SanDisk 256MB card with version 5.04 and the program load function came up. So 256MB does work on my MFD as well. Interestingly the compatibility check software could not open that card.
I just noticed that you had successfully loaded on a different C80 using the card in question. So I'm at a loss to offer any useful advice.
Hopefully RM comes up with something for you. Otherwise, I guess the only option is to install your spare C80, which can load the software.

Re: Firmware Update for Raymarine C-Series

Yeah, I installed the spare over the weekend and talked to RM this morning.

The guy there said that the CF pins could be bent, and that the reader uses different pins for the operating system than from the charts.

So I'm sending it back.

It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

Re: Firmware Update for Raymarine C-Series

Hello everybody

Very old discussion, but I had to solve this today and her is what I did.

Case: old firmware and no reading of the smalest CF card I could fint on the net.

Using my old Navionics 256 Mb CF card.
Checking available space on it. about 256-187= about 60+ Mb
Copying datas (backup) my Navionics CF card to Dropbox.

Saving my waypoints to the Navionics card (about 1 Mb)
Saving waypoints to Dropbox

Downloding the 5.04 update for C80
Copying the 2 files from the *.zip file to the /root directory og the Navionics CF card
Booting the C80 with the Navionics CF card(with the firmware upgrade files)
Accepting the firmware upgrade. Wait for updating
When finished system hang on problem with exiting from upgrade card.
Turn system off (cutting the power to the unit)

Put the card in to cardreader and remove the 2 upgrade files.
Boot C80 up again with the Navionics CF card including waypoint file
Import waypoints via Data button.

There you go. Almost simple

Just one question remains. How du I get a backup of my old Navionics CF card map. If anything should happend to it... Anyone??

Best regards LA2WHA Jon Helge
