email via Kenwood TS440S?

I haven't done much searching but thought this would be the best place to start. Is my Kenwood TS440S capable of receiving email with the appropriate modem/software/blessings? If so, where can I get specific info for setting this up? Will see if Sailmail or Winlink can answer that as well.
Mike

Mike,

According to SailMail, "Kenwood Ham radios are fine radios and work well for digital modes on the ham networks."

Bill, But will the Pactor modem connect to the radio or will it need to be wired in in some way?

Chuck,

You can order the necessary cables (and the modem, if need be) from Gary Jensen at Dockside Radio: Pactor-II/III Radio Modem sales/support, FCC License filing, Marine SSB & HAM Radio Net schedules/frequencies.

The connecting kit for the TS440S is #9096

Thanks Bill,

However, the DSR website says,

'Marine SSB's that are capable of having their frequency remotely set by the AirMail software include the Icom M710, Icom M700pro, Icom M710RT, Icom M802, SGC SG-2000, SEA-235, and Codan-9390 radios.'

Isn't the frequency control pretty important? What am I missing?

Well, it sure is a convenience :-)

You can set the frequency manually on radios which are not computer-controlled, but it sure is nice to have a radio which can be controlled by the software.
