Echo sounder transducer

I have a very ancient echo sounder that has a very new 200khz transducer attached to it. I would like to replace the sounder with a more modern one. I note that the vast majority of sounders use a 200khz transducer so would like to use my existing one. My question is, can any 200khz transducer be connected to any 200khz sounder or are they in some way specific to each other?
