DSC for ICOM 710

I understand there is a gadget which can make my Icom 710 GMDSS capable but it isn't available in the USA. Does anybody have one of these? Where can I get one? How much did it cost you?

Here's the device you're looking for:

"GMDSS versions available (not available in the US)
Versions which comply with GMDSS requirements are available (not available in the US). With the addition of an ICGM110 DSC terminal the radio meets DSC class A requirements." (from globalmarinenet.com)

You can download the instruction manual for this unit from several places on the Web. Just Google, "ICGM110 DSC terminal"

I have no direct experience with it, though.

Tashtego,
1) The Icom GM110 DSC Terminal, is a discontinued item....and has been for years.....

2) It's doubtful that you'd be able to find any in inventory anywhere.....although if you really want one, you may wish to search the used market....(ebay, etc...higher probability of finding one in the Far East...)
But, be aware that they were over $1000 new.....so you won't find one cheap....

3) It is more than a "gadget".....
It is an outboard 6-channel scanning DSC receiver, with xmit/rec DSC modem, and remote control unit for the M-710....

4) If you want DSC functionality (and/or full GMDSS compliance) in a MF/HF transceiver, your choices are Icom M-802 / M-801E (or M-802 GMDSS), Furuno FS-1570 / FS-2570, or a Sailor / Thrane & Thrane model.....
