Do I need gs25 GPS/heading with an rc43

I need to select a gps for my nss8 system. I already have an rc43 compass. Is there any real need for a gs25? Could I use a gs15 and still get radar overlay thanks to the rc43?

Thanks

Re: Do I need gs25 GPS/heading with an rc43

Is it an RC42 or RC43? I'm not familiar with the RC43 but the RC42 is an NMEA 2000 compass and will provide heading to your nss8 if they are on the same network. There is no real need for an additional compass. If you can find a GS15 go for it, otherwise there are GS25 all over the place as well as the B&G ZG100.

Thanks
Yes it is an RC 42... oops.
Thanks for the reply, that is what I was thinking, but just wanted confirmation. I already have a GS15 in my big box of goodies. I believe the GS 25 is more precise and quicker reacting but after all it is a 40000lb full keel (Hans Christian 43), course changes are not an instant thing (or position changes for that matter)

Re: Do I need gs25 GPS/heading with an rc43

The GS25 polls 10x per second while the GS15 polls 5x per second. Therefore if your moving 6 knots your position would update every 10" with the GS25 as opposed to 21" with the GS15.
