Depthsounder Readings

hello all
I have a NAVMAN dual log and depth sounder , lately it has been giving me totally inaccurate and funny depth readings! jumping from 6 to 52 meters when I know for a fact that the bottom is 12m under the keel !
any advice on the matter would be appreciated.
cheers
Georges

Can be broken. Or.

Mine will do things like this or worse when sailing over a dense shoal of fish. Also in very deep but turbulent water - when it can't 'see' the real botom and takes (the bubles?) for the bottom.

I have had the same problem. Have you gotten any ideas. It happens in water that is not beyound it's range and not that many fish to disturb it. I'm oging to clean the connections next.
