Gord's formula

A correllary to Gord's formula is that the pucker factor is directly proportional to the square of the distance of the hole below the waterline multiplied by the diameter of the hole. Hence, the amount of shock that Wheels experienced when staring down the column of water from having removed a thru-hull 4-5 ft below the waterline.

Gord - I spent 20 minutes using Google and didn't find that calculation! You are an advanced search engine in your own right!

Sounds like I'll get out the Q-tips and bottom paint. Makes more sense than installing that diving alarm..... Thanks everyone!

Lightbulb Mark,

Since your in warmer waters and don't mind getting wet once in a while you could always swim down and place a bucket (cottage cheese container), with grease around the edges, over the transducer. When you change it just a little water will get in if any. And if you tie a string to the bucket you can remove it by pulling on the string.
