Re: Depth sounder reading really shallow depths when it’s much deeper

My transducer is brand new so I doubt that is the problem. I also had the same problem with our old transducer. So I think it’s the “second ping confusion” thing as described above. Will have to try and get onto Raymarine to understand what’s going on

Re: Depth sounder reading really shallow depths when it’s much deeper

probably totally unrelated but when I first got the boat I was sailing in what seemed clearly deep water, confirmed by charts, the depth sounder suddenly started showing not much water. I found out the scale setting was wrong on the depth sounder and it couldn't make sense of it.

May not be your issue.

What is that ? I can only setup the offset, no other parameter unfortunately...

Benzy, I never had a problem with my transducer for 2 years (full time liveaboard) and am seeing this behaviour since I installed the iTC-5. Maybe not related but a bit strange. Did you experience the same problem w/o the iTC-5 ??

Bummer thought it might have been solved! Our transducer is brand new so don’t think it is age related.

Has there ever been a conclusion on this issue? This gets really scary when you are navigating close to rocks where it is otherwise several hundred feet deep. Hard to know whether to trust it or not in that scenario.
