Depth gauge, raymarine E70207 - 2 questions

Thanks for the transducer lesson. My depthsounder quits when it gets in shallow water. It works well in deep water. Is there a chance my transducer is misaligned, maybe even 180 deg out?

None of them work very well under 3ft depth below the txdr.

There's an implicit assumption here that the depth transducer element is removable from the housing. Most are not, which would mean you have to drag the wire underwater and feed it through the hole first.

Cut the wire and splice it.
