One think I sorely miss on my
boat is a good display of
weather information. I inherited an electronic barograph which displays barometric pressure over time together with inside and outside temperature -- so far so good.
But
wind data I can only get from my masthead
wind transducer, displayed on the regular nav sysem MFD. That means the whole nav system has to be fired up (power
consumption issue), and I can't display TWD data -- true wind direction referenced to North. Nor can I display a
history of wind and gusts.
So I find myself dreaming about putting an Airmar PB-200 on my masthead and having some kind of dedicated
weather display. Maybe even two of them -- one at the nav table and one in my
cabin so I can see what's going on with the weather at night without getting out of my bunk.
I would like for it to be like a land-based weather station, showing:
barometric pressure over time
wind speed and direction (Ground Wind Speed and TWD referenced to north) -- over time.
outside temperature -- if possble over time.
I spent some time with Mr.
Google and found a number of
software solutions, but I don't want to run this on a computer -- I want a dedicated display mouned at the nav table.
Anyone know of a good solution to this?
