Cust Support The good, the better, the ugly

The Good:
Standard Horizon - After installing my autopilot I am having problems getting the SH GPS to play nice with the Simrad autopilot. SH have me the information needed to reset the factory default, and the e-mail of on of the product team so I could talk to him directly about my problem

The Better:
Simrad - I am anal about planning things out before executing. I was able to discuss with them my concerns and configuration. They answered my questions and made some great recommendations. Even admitting that the manual was a little deceiving in its "short beep".

The Ugly
Raymarine - Needless to say some of the worst customer support I have ever run into. Luckily I read the manuals online prior to opening the box. That way I was able to return it! Unbelievable how bad it was!

Yeah now that is one hell of a big argument I have.
All literature is inside boxes and you have to open the box to read and find out it won't suit and return it which you can't cause you opened the box to read the book to findout it won't do and you are in a catch 22.
The worst offender? computor software!!! Especially if you are loading the program and you don't agree to the terms and conditions. What are you going to do?? You can't return it cause it has been opened.

Tip 1. Go online and bring up the product support page. Almost every company has the product manuals online.

Thanks for reading the eula, it just goes to show that part of my job is not useless. I work in QA, and one of the places I find bugs all the time is in the EULA.
