Cover For Garmin GRID

Garmin Remote Input Device

I am installing one of these, and it hit me: no cover was provided.

So I asked Garmin if one was available. No; no cover could be fitted because of the joy stick. That seems to me to be ridiculous; I plan to make one of fiberglass.

But I'd first be interested if anyone has a GRID, and whether they think a cover is needed to protect the GRID, the rubber joy stick bellows in particular, from sunlight or water.
