Computer Problem ... Salt and Moisture

Despite attempts to keep my MacBook safe and dry in a Penguin case, it seems that either moisture, or salt, or both, have gotten to the trackpad. The cursor now scurries about like a demented mouse (pun intended!).
Short of having the trackpad replaced (about $200 I'm told), what suggestions does anyone have for resolving this problem?
I've wiped down the trackpad with methyl hydrate, thinking it might rinse out whatever is causing the problem, but that hasn't solved the problem.
Thanks...

Buy a USB or bluetooth mouse.

Hi - should have mentioned that I did buy a USB mouse. Thing is, it's a nuisance to carry about and I lose some functionality with it. If I can clean/repair the trackpad, that's the way I want to go.

Or buy the Bluetooth apple external trackpad for 69$ and keep your functionality.

I would open the whole mess up and wipe it all clean and clean the contacts. If that didn't fix it I'd buy a trackpad for 75 bucks and swap it out. It's not as hard to work on the bits as you might think. Just go slow and keep parts together and take pictures of how things look before you take it apart.

malwarebytes.org google it and youll see the same problem widespread, malwarebytes found the guilty trojan on my harddrive and fixed the problem for me last night. Its free and theyre currently demoing the pro version for 14 days. Avast was running and current and didnt recognize it when I picked it up.

And since this is a family forum, I simply cannot - CANNOT - say what I thought on reading that. But 'keeping the parts together"...oh, be still, my trembling heart....

@ forsailbyowner - I have a mac, the product you mentioned is for windows. Macs generally don't get viruses, etc. Thanks anyway, it was a great thought.
