Computer monitor

While we are talking about 12V tvs, let's also talk about 12V computer monitor. I am thinking of building an ITX and will need a small monitor. Hopefully 12v with a low energy draw.

Microship posted this link on another thread which I thought was interesting. You might find it of use.

I've built a couple mini-itx systems for boats, and 12vdc monitors are getting harder to come by. I currently have a Samsung SyncMaster 150MP that is a fair monitor and a TV (with tuner) with four inputs. I also have Scanport 715a, but I doubt you'll ever find one, even on Ebay My Garmin Chartplotter looks good on the Samsung. Neither of these will be readable in daylight, much less sunlight.

Here's the monitor I bought. It has the brick adaptor that outputs 12v. I just cut it off and wired it straight into the boat power. Seems to handle the higher volts when the engines running with no problem.

Newegg.com - ViewEra V172SV-B Black 17" 8ms LCD Video Monitor 300 cd/m2 500:1 Built in Speakers - LCD Monitors

I've know of several of these 14" 12 volt monitor and also the Viewera mentioned by rdempsey that are in use by cruisers.

When you read the ad, how do you know it is 12v? Or did I just overlook it?
