Re: class A AIS

We have this special regulations from 2007 in Turkey. all commercial boats bigger than 15m (10m at bosphorus) must use this B-class transponders.
No tech or IMO problems at all.

For commercial boats this may be ok but I think there will be technical issues if recreational boaters deploy lots of these high power B units. The B standard presupposes lower power than A. It isn't possible to turn up the power and have zero consequences. I hope these units all stay in Turkey.

Re: class A AIS

there is another problem, you cannot import any b-class transponders that dont have this a-class features for Turkish flaged boats due to custom regulations..
Thats why there is almost no one uses AIS transponder on their private boats..

thanks god there is more US flaged private boat than Turkish!
Ohh taxes taxes! ;-)

Re: class A AIS

I would question this. I'm not aware that anyone even makes a 12.5 w class B CS system even class B SOTDMA is only 5 w
