Check your P17 thru hull fittings

When changing from plug to DST800 triducer with boat in water something in the thru hull valve broke loose and a plastic piece came into the boat.

After this event we had water seeping in from what seemed to be in the middle of the threads.

Lifted the boat out of the water today to make a check and the whole thru hull was cracked!

This is an Airmar P17 with valve, the space of the valve mechanics makes the thickness of the material thinner.

If you have one inspect it imnediately.

I think I will be changing to a B17 bronze fitting without valve now...

Re: Check your P17 thru hull fittings

Potential disaster here... The crack is reaching down more than 2/3'th of the total length. Imagine if it had turned in the direction of the threads... *snap* 40mm hole in a very low point in the boat. 😬
