Funny thing, we were out of the water for a week 3 yrs ago, after splashing the wood was weeping just as you describe. I started gathering all the bits for a quickhaul to fix it. Well 2 weeks later it was dryish and salt caked. I can only assume it swelled up again after being dry. I just replaced it a month ago.
