Change MMSI on a Furuno FA-150 AIS?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to change the MMSI on this AIS? We are thousands of miles and months away from a Furuno dealer.

Thank you.

Matt

MarkJ.

The procedure I posted will allow the change. Some units do have to go back but not the one he has.

I have to change the MMSI on a Furuno FA50 - do you know the Login Name and Password for a 'Static Edit' on these units?

Thumbs up Re: Change MMSI on a Furuno FA-150 AIS?

Hi, in Britain we have the same problem with having to send the unit back to manufacturers if you want to change the MMSI number. MMSI is a good thing but it is a con because it costs just as much to send it back as to buy a new one. So I kept the old one as a standby radio and bought a new radio. Remember though if you buy a boat with a radio installed you do not change the number, that belongs to the boat. You go onto the relevant site and change the owner details.

Yes in the US. Its a bit more involved if the MMSI was obtained from the FCC than it is with BoatUS, but both are doable.

How do you transfer an FCC issued MMSI on a vessel that has been sold? I've always had to apply for a new station license that came with a new MMSI.
