Re: Can you identify this part?

It's obviously a Raytheon whatsit. Dismount it and take the model and serial numbers off the back.

The many buttons are also a clue as to its purpose. Sorry, but i can't make them out enough to decipher its purpose. The small print in the lower right of the screen may tell you what it is, as well. I suspect a gps, but am not sure.

Re: Can you identify this part?

Ann, thank you very much for the quick answer. The problem is that i'm not close to the boat (recently bought) and wondering what the piece ofhardware i've got...

It's a GPS unit.

Re: Can you identify this part?

Looks like a Loran or GPS; google Raymarine 575 or 398.

Re: Can you identify this part?

Looks a lot like the GPS I had. Old school but nice readout etc.

Re: Can you identify this part?

Well, that was quick to spot!! Thank you very much for your help.
Do you think that such an old piece of hardware can be connected to a modern tiller autopilot like a simrad tp22or a raymarine 2000?
Cheers

Re: Can you identify this part?

Yes, it most likely has an NMEA0183 output. However, the the TP32 is N2K only (simnet ), so you'd need to buy an adapter (Actisense for example). Probably - IMO - not worth it. Buy a newer Gps with N2K
