I have an old autohelm
gauge and the operation of the wind
direction needle is clearly faulty. It fluctuates all over the dial. The LCD wind speed indicator appears to be operating correctly and hence I suspect the gauge itself and not the masthead transducer.
I am trying to isolate the fault which is either in the wind gauge, in the cabling or in the masthead transducer. For reasons of accessibility it is easiest to test the wind gauge first. Is there some way in which I can test the wind gauge on a workbench without needing to detach the transducer from the masthead?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
