Hello all
I need
advice choosing a bluetooth-enabled
GPS receiver.
I have
openCPN 3.2.0 running on a Win 8.1 tablet, sadly without an internal
GPS antenna, so need an external receiver.
Looking for a waterproofed (if possible), Bluetooth GPS receiver to pair the tablet to for GPS
NMEA data.
Seen a few (Garmin, GlobalSat, Holux) that look like fitting the bill, but are not waterproofed, so need to be installed in the
cabin. I have a 1 inch think ply/GRP sandwich
cabin roof. Doubt they will pickup a good
satellite signal below
deck.
My
budget is about USD 150 for the entire setup.
Also, seen a few threads in the forum about several config adjustments needed by OCPN in order to receive GPS data over bluetooth. Not a tekkie, so sounds rather complex to set up to me. Would like as plug-and-play solutions as possible.
Any advise much appreciated. Thanks
