Best new autopilots

I am around 6 months from purchase, but just picked up a used Raymarine 1 type linear drive. Need to pair if to a course computer.

I guess them2 most likely options are the Garmin or new Raymarine EV 200. I had major issues with a Raymarine s1 several years ago and although taken care if under warranty, returning to NH from the Marquesas is a pain! Had a S2 on another boat and that was great with a Simrad drive.

overall, I expect my boat to be pretty light on the helm, but steering with tillers so a below deck pilot seems the best option for offshore. if I has a wheel I think a wheel pilot might be adequate, but have all the gear on hand now for belowdecks install.

any recent experience with newer systems appreciated.

Re: Best new autopilots

I am going for EV-100 ourselves. But this will not happen now as EU prices are ridiculous. I think I will get ours on the other side.

I like Ray APs and have much experience with their tiller models. When well sized (oversized) they work as advertized.
