Fred Rift, but 2 things -

Upload all your manuals to dropbox, then on the tablet/phone mark them as favorites and they will be downloaded onto the device.

Evernote - get it and start using it! Everything goes in there - pics of serial numbers, downloaded web pages, best threads from here, screenshots of weather , absolutely everything, pics of projects ongoing, to do lists. Then add a load of tags and there's a huge amount of ever growing info which can be really easily found again. Try it, it's great

OK 3 things, do those 2 then come back in a couple of months and tell me I'm wrong

GPS essentials in my favorite. Along with ebookdroid for pdf/epubs etc.

I have an experia tablet as well - lovely .

I am specifically looking for something which is not a chart plotter -- I have lots of those.

I'm looking for something which replicates the function of a non-plotting GPS.

I had this on my old phone. Very cool graphics, but it does not provide many basic functions of a handheld GPS.

I carry SD cards full of books/documents and films taped to the inside of the phone case. Just change the card when want to watch certain films.

Long live android.

Note Bene: Yes you can download but if off line....... I have about 50 films that I havent seen..... plus work I should have done and didnt get round to.

Sounds like you need a bigger SD card! A 64 gig one now costs less than 20 squids.

In that case, I second both GPS Test and GPS Essentials. I have both but find I turn to GPS Test more and I spent the three bucks to upgrade it to Plus.

Phone will not handle more than 32GIG
Plus....... I can reload one from the computer after Ive watched the others in a cycle....
Plus........I keep the work file separate from the playtime.
Plus........I have not had a lot of luck with longevity of micro cards.

Re: Best GPS Android App?

Why are you specifically looking for GPS app without charting?

I use One Note instead. It is free and syncs with my computer seamlessly.

Seems very powerful as well, though i haven't used it.

Lifehacker Faceoff: OneNote vs. Evernote

For such a simple basic idea incredibly powerful , thousands of notes, web snips, photos, scanned docs all easily reachable with an extremely efficient search engine. Most of evernote is free as well, I subscribe for full offline storage on all devices.

Because some times I just need to know position, SOG, COG, BTW, DTW, VMG, without all the extra baggage.

Yes, I read that article about 6 months ago. I tried Evernote but because OneNote was doing all I needed I gave up on learning it. When I got the ON App on Android it made ON so much more valuable to me.

I think if I had been using Evernote prior to trying OneNote I would not have changed, unless there was some specific item that I felt I needed or that served my purpose better.

Honestly I use OneNote badly but it does serve my purpose.
