Re: B&G Electronics

Yes, we have three of them and love them. I will try to post a short review of them soon.

Meanwhile, check post #9 here: Wind Speed/Direction Indicators

Re: B&G Electronics

We are looking at this particular model and have read good things.

Does anyone have comments on how the wireless function off shore as oppose to coastal. Are there any negatives in regard to wireless in this regard.

Thanks

Re: B&G Electronics

The B&G Tritons do not have any wireless functionality. Are you talking about the Simrad GoFree?

Re: B&G Electronics

I installed it on an Albin Nova 33 a year ago. Tearing out the old stuff was more work than installing. These digital systems are truly plug and play, nothing like the miles of wire it replaces. And the newer firmware allows it to display engine data, so once I add the engine to the network, I'll finally find out how much oil pressure it makes.

Re: B&G Electronics

We installed one a couple of years ago. The wind sensor was faulty right out of the box. B and G sent us a new one which lasted less than 3 weeks. We exchanged that one out 6 months ago and so far no problems. The large screen and low power draw are great. I wish they had a peak wind reading and an average speed reading (both would be easy software mods), but otherwise very happy with it.

Your prayer has been answered!

The new software (which I recently installed with some difficulty) gives the Triton a Wind Plot screen, which displays TWS and TWD, with a 30 minute (or 10, or 20) plot of each, showing low value, peak value, and average. It's really useful!
