Autopilot Autohelm 5000

Hi.
Can anyone help with a circuitboard diagram (or Link) of the Liniar Drive unit and the Control unit and or the signalflow in cable between those 2 units.
RayMarine can or will not help with any information, and do not have spares.
The Drive-unit motor itself and Magnetic Clutch is working Ok, but when switching to "auto"-mode, the Drive-unit just locks the rudder (clutch engaged) and nothing else happens.
I can start re-drawing the PCB, but that will take a h... of time, so therefore this request for help in order to determine if fault is located to driver-pcb or control-unit-pcb.
Tks in advance.

Is your autohelm 5000 the one that has the circuit board inside the linear drive? If so, I may have the diagrams and possible some spare parts.

Re: Autopilot Autohelm 5000

Hi Steve B.
Your link is OK, but they want money, before I can viuw the "product", - i.e. I think the download, they offer is the "Owners Manual", wich I already have. I need the technical and/or installation mauals with pin-configurations etc.

And for Capn Dan.
PCB inside, - need pin-config. for a start, so that I can supply a artificial port/starboard-signal pretending to be the Control-unit.

Tks and regards to both of you so far.

Re: Autopilot Autohelm 5000

Hi,

I have an autohelm 5000 with linear drive and am also having problems. I just got my boat, a Sea Sprite 34 a year ago and just tried reconnecting the autohelm 5000 that came with it. When I turn it on all it wants to do is turn all the way to starboard and stay there. Sometimes when switching it back to set and then returning it to duty, the helm will turn back a bit but then it will go hard starboard again. I have the users manual but it says little although I will try adjusting the phase control in the back (only thing left to try that I can think of).

Would it be possible to get a copy of the Service Manual?

Thanks

John

Hi Capn Dan,

I am looking for the "Autohelm 5000 analog" service manual (schematics).
Could you send me some relevant document ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Autopilot Autohelm 5000

Hi John-Lucas,

Cap'n Dan had sent me a CD with part of a service manual - it has been awhile since I looked at it. If you don't hear from him let me know and I will see what I have from what he sent me.

He seemed to know alot about these and was a great help so I would wait a few days to see if he gets in touch with you.
