australian call sign

hi all
I was hoping to find some way of getting an australian callsign for our Thai registered yacht, as we will be bringing her back to Fremantle in due course.
It appears that we can get an NZ one on line because we are NZ nationals although resident in Aust. I find the thought of trying to get a thai one just to daunting after the convoluted dealings with various departments over there to make the purchase. Hopefully someone has done something similar before.

Hi Inacoombe If you are thinking of HF You will have to Apply for a Maritime Ship Station Class B licence Contact ACMA ( Australian Communications and Media Authority) www.acma.gov.au It is pretty quick costs A$54.00 for one year. If I remember back I think you can do it all on line. "Good Luck" If you are thinking VHF just use your boat name Hope this helps you Cheers from FNQ Jacko

Hi Ian,

I think you will also have to show a copy of your radio operators licence .

I think jacko was right and all can be completed online.

it is for hf ssb and i have a licence its just the foriegn rego that i thought may stuff it round I will have a look and let you know how i go thanks for the link
