Anyone Also Have Issues with the Target HF3 Shortwave Radio Reciever ?

Hi there -

We are having trouble with our Shortwave Receiver - it's a Target HF3.

My husband has installed items such as these with success on other boats, but we are having no luck.

All the troubleshooting advice in the manual was tried with no success. This is a second hand radio, but was from a reliable source.

I'm wondering if anyone has had the same issues - our receiver - gets static on all frequencies, with scattered frequencies picking up a solid tone, but we're not receiving any signal.

Advice anyone? (Give up? Try again? Try what?)
Cheers, Kyra

"but we're not receiving any signal."
Check the antenna connection, and check inside the radio to make sure the center lead hasn't broken off contact. If there's any kind of "RF GAIN" or other control that might be attenuating the signal, make sure that's off.
Beyond that? You can look for parts that might have worked loose, socketed compoments that might have loosened up, and squonch 'em back down. But then it is time for a radio repair shop, it sounds more like something is blown.

try using another sw radio in the same area, may be the boat wiring causing interference, had the same problem with a target hf 3,but may be that they are just crap recievers.

Thanks for your input guys, sounds like we're on the right track. And maybe these receivers are crap after all.
Just a "bit" of a hassle as we're about to leave Neah Bay for San Fran - tomorrow. Sigh. We're not going way offshore, but at +/- 35nm off, don't expect to get a good VHF reception. sigh. Why now.
