Any issue carrying an EPRIB on international flights?

Any issues with the lithium batteries in EPRIBs taking them on commercial flights?

NO

Ive dont it several times recently. You can check or carry it on. The size of Lithium battery is not an issue and it is installed, which is the key. The whole issues is non installed lithium batteries

What I've done:
Print out the airline hazmat poilicy on batteries ( they are all the same and found in FAQ's- they follow the IATA regs)

Look up the manufacture web page or call them and ask for the MSDS for the EPIRB. I carried it just to prove the type of device and size of battery

Never been questioned or hasseled.

What EPIRB, I may have the MSDS

Haven't bought it yet. Just wanted to make sure I could get it back to the boat.

I flew from Phoenix to Rhode Island with two PLB's and had some concerns. The airlines were no help and the TSA site said they were OK but up to local inspectors. I took their approved list on the flight, nobody even looked twice at the PLB's. Checked baggage is different and I don't think you will have any problems with carry on stuff.

I've carried PLBs and satphones on international flights. Never a problem, although I have had some pleasant conversations with TSA inspectors. Honestly, they *were* pleasant, since they were interested in sailing and were curious about the gear.
