Anchor Alarm on iPhone

Hello all,

I have written an Anchor Alarm iPhone application and am interested in seeing if any of you would care to write a review for it. If so, please PM me and let me know of your interest and where you plan to submit your review. I'll send you a demo code that will let you download it for free. For more info, or to have a look at the app, go to iTunes and search for "anchor alarm" or pm me and I will send you a link.

thanks,

Chris

P.S. I hope to write some more sailing related iPhone apps soon, so if you have ideas or feedback, I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it.

Chris: good luck on your ventures. I use GPSNavx on a laptop. I have two tide programs on my iphone. More apps the better. Can't think of any specific app for sailing that isn't already out there. David

Fantastic idea... Have been looking for something like this for awhile.

I have a steel boat unfortunately, so will have to think of a way to keep the iphone dry outside at night. Any ideas?

Does the app play sound out of the headphone jack?

I had to check, but yes, the alarm sound does play through headphones. So if I am following you, that's a great idea for steel boat - leave the phone outside where it can get a good signal, and run a headphone cable into the stereo system or some other speakers in your cabin. Cool. I have a person using the app on a big aluminum dive boat, I will have to let them know about this, thanks.

As for what to put the phone in, I just did a google on "waterproof iphone case" and it turned up several. I cannot vouch for any since haven't tried them.

Hi Bill,

I'm definitely considering developing for the Android platform, and possibly for the Blackberry Storm as well. Hopefully, I will soon get a few sales going on the iPhone and be able to justify porting it to Android and BB.

Thanks,

Chris

Another use case

OK, how about this.

I anchor off the coast, I leave my iPhone on the boat, and dinghy into the mainland. Would it it be possible to have the app text or e-mail my other iPhone upon an event, such as a dragging anchor?

There is an app for that...?

I suppose it could be useful. Can you adjust the sensitivity or "drift" before the alarm goes off?

I got an iPhone recently, but have not downloaded any apps yet.
Been thinking about stuff like CNN and Starbucks and such but every time I try to download a free app, somebody wants my credit card...

New sailing app I just wrote for the Droid phone. Not yet made for anything but the Droid. Search BC Racer in the android market and let me know how you like it. It's mainly for wednesday night beer can racing.

It's there, simply called "Anchor Alarm" but $10. Yikes!
It's kind of worth it, since iPhone draws much less power than your instruments or a laptop.

But what I really HATE about iTunes is no free trials, and if the app sucks...good luck getting a refund.
