Airmail with Pactor 1

I have been starting to set up a PK-232mbx TNC for Airmail on our Ingrid. I realized that the TNC does not have the firmware necessary to run Pactor so of course it can't do Airmail.
I have read that Pactor 1 can be frustrating to use for Airmail because many stations exclude Pactor 1 due to the slow speed.
Since I am not about to go out and spend a lot of money on the SCS modem, I have been wondering if it is even worth upgrading the firmware in the PK232mbx that I have. Is it that difficult to reach pactor 1 stations anymore?

Hi,

Save your money.
Winmor sound card vitual TNC software is in the final stages of Beta testing. At present it is free and already faster than Pactor 2.
It will be run in parallel with Pactor 2/3 on the Winlink 2000 system early next year.
Cost will be less than $100.

Thanks, HamSailor! I had already signed up for the Winmor group and learned some about Winmor. I was wondering when it might be live. That is great news that it will be early next year!
