Airmail COM Ports Problem

Boat Im aboard had AirMail working fine on a Windows PC...till the hard drive crashed a couple of days out of Bermuda.

No problem, I happened to have a copy of Navigatrix (Linux + software bundle for boats) on a USB drive. Load & go right. Wrong.

All loaded up and ran fine, but AirMail will not recognize the COM port (the set up Wizard wont find it, nor will Terminal Window).

Looking for some tech suggestions on resolving this issue quickly (leave for Azores Tuesday).

Details:

Rig: ICOM802 + P4 Dragon (DR-7400) modem, USB connection to PC

Software Configuration: Linux/WINE/Airmail

Com ports: COM3 is mapped to /dev/ttyUSB0, permissions are wide open (rwxrwxrwx), 'nx' (default user under Navigatrix package) is in the 'dialout' group.


Suggestions how to get AirMail up and working again?

Well, in case anyone else has the same issue...the DR-7400 modem requires specific USB drivers. To my knowledge there are no Linux version of these drivers so I dont think this can be done using Wine (which is just an API emulation layer). I think a full VM running Windows is required to support driver install. I didnt have that available to me under Linux (though it is available). So, our end solution was a VM on a Mac. Now up and running!
