Aft mounted wind instruments

I would like to relocate my wind instruments from the mast top to a bracket on my stern mounted radar mast. I would like to be able to take my anemometer off when I am not on the boat and during the winter. We have a lot of eagles that like to sit on them. I have tried adding wire ties to act as spikes but they don't last. Any downside to having the instrument at the stern, the end of my boom is approx. 6' from the stern.

I look forward to any responses.

Re: Aft mounted wind instruments

Very bad idea. Most of the time they will be sitting in disturbed airflow off the sails and will not give correct readings of apparent or true wind.
