A series of coincidence?

2 weeks ago, my anometer quit. Is moves, but only reads 30 to 60 degrees. I assume i need to replace the transducer. My st 7000 autopilot quit this weekend. Shows st fail. Wierd, the remote and chartplotter still controlled it....then yhat quit, then started.....found a loose ground on the fluxgate, all came back except the control head. Third is my voltage, 13.3 to 13.7 generally. Agm glassmats, replaced in 2012, i assume they need replaced..

It seems like a lot of unrelated coincidental issues...or is it?

Anyone have a compatible pilot head they can part with?

Re: A series of coincidence?

Sounds more like you have some connector problems. I'd clean and reseat the various cabling, both the data and power cables, then recheck.
Not sure why you think the AGMs are bad. The voltage you give indicates they are being charged at float voltage- which indicates nothing about their health.

The agms drop quickly to 12.1 to 12.5, sorry i left that out. I am testing and cleaning is how i found the loose ground on the fluxgate.

Is there anywhere you can purchase spares for the Autohelm 7000?

The Ray autopilots are particularly sensitive to low voltage conditions. I'd fix the battery situation first before spending money on AP parts.

Re: A series of coincidence?

a day and a half of climbing in, under, up high has revealed a bad bearing on the st50 mast head instrument, a bad control head on the st 7000, and 2 bad batteries. not great news, but at least i know the problems. anyone replaced the bearimg on the anometer? i see a kit on defender, but it doesnt say anything about bearings.
