78sc > NSS7 > 2150 > NSS7 0183 help needed :)

I work at West Marine, and decided that I wanted to setup AIS in the store. Ultimately displaying it on a Simrad NSS7.

However, none of the GPS's we sell will work underneath our steel roof, except for the Garmin 76-78 Series handhelds.

I've been able to get the 78sc to send position to the Standard Horizon 2150 AIS/VHF.

And I've been able to get the 78sc to send position to the simrad, but I can't seem to get all three to play nice together.

In reading the manual, it looks like the 2150 does not forward those sentences to the NSS.

If I go 78sc > NSS > 2150 I **think** the NSS will forward all of the sentences, but then I can't figure out how to get the AIS back from the 2150 to the NSS.

Can I do what I want to do without a multiplexor?

OK, so reading through the nss manual, it seems that I can do GPS to NSS1, then go to a NMEA 2K to another NSS (we have a current NMEA2 network on a lowrance which I might try just for 'fun')

then from that NSS it will transmit to the 2150, and then the 2150 can send AIS to the input of NSS2: (see attached)


So now the question is: is there a better solution?
